INPI Argentina streamlines trademark registration:
Electronic notifications and elimination of procedural delays
As of March 1, 2026, Resolution 63/2026 comes into effect—a key measure by the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) designed to modernize and accelerate trademark granting timelines in Argentina.
Key regulatory changes
The primary objective of this resolution is the removal of "artificial delays" by fully embracing a digital-first environment. The most significant updates include:
-
Direct electronic notifications: Administrative actions, transfers, and interlocutory acts will no longer wait for publication in the Trademark Bulletin. Instead, they will be notified directly to the user’s Electronic Seat (user account) via the INPI Web Portal.
-
Elimination of the 30-day duspension: The former 30-day "grace period" that delayed the start of legal deadlines has been abolished. Given that all records are now fully digitized, legal terms will begin counting from the day following the electronic notification.
-
Official bulletin reserved for final decisions: The trademark bulletin will now be used exclusively for final resolutions (concessions, denials, or cancellations) and notices regarding the failure to maintain oppositions.
-
Mandatory "Taking Intervention" (entry of appearance): To ensure no notifications are missed, attorneys and agents must update their electronic legal domiciles through the “Trademarks/Procedures/Intervention” option on the portal. This filing holds the status of a sworn statement.
Context and impact
This reform complements Resolution 583/2025, which restructured the trademark process by moving the formal and registrability examinations prior to publication. By aligning the notification system with this new workflow, INPI aims to foster a more agile, efficient, and transparent registration process, eliminating the need for physical inquiries or reliance on outdated paper-based systems.
Strategic note: For entities with pending applications or those planning new registrations, it is critical to ensure that INPI Portal accounts are active and contact information is current. Your digital dashboard is now the official and primary channel for all procedural updates.
