The National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) is the authority responsible for trademark registration.

The process is divided into three stages: submission and preliminary examination, publication in the Official Journal, and substantive examination.

• It takes approximately 6-8 months before an office action is issued by the trademark or registration authority.
• The opposition period is 30 working days from the date of publication of the application.
• The grant of a trademark is for 10 years renewable for equal periods.
• Chile joined the Madrid System in July 2022.
